West Didsbury is a small estate on the east side of Princess Road,
between Barlow Moor Road and the river Mersey. It's about four miles
south of the city centre Princess Road is a major route into the city
from the M56 and the motorway network.

Living in West Didsbury
Although there are few shops on the doorstep, it is just over a mile to the wide variety of shops, banks, post offices, bars and restaurants in Chorlton or Didsbury. There are more local services In Northenden a pleasant mile walk away across one of the local golf courses. The nearest library, is over Princess Road, in Merseybank - there is a community centre and doctor's surgery there too. There are very frequent buses along Barlow Moor Road to Didsbury and Chorlton, the city centre and the university, and plenty of buses along Princess Road to the city centre and to Wythenshawe and the airport.
The nearest indoor sports facilities are at Withington leisure centre where there is swimming, a fitness suite and keep-fit and dance classes. There are football pitches and open land at Merseybank playing fields right next to the estate. There are country walks and cycle paths practically on the doorstep along the nearby Mersey Valley, and playgrounds, fishing and water sports at nearby Chorlton water park. Nearby Merseybank is in line for a huge boost with plans to bring vital community facilities and key services under one roof. It will be the place to come for: a new, modern library with instant access to all council services; a community centre; a creche and other services for children and families; adult education and training courses; daycare facilities for people with learning disabilities; an advice centre; a new doctors' surgery; and a drop-in heath centre.
Learning in West Didsbury
Secondary school children go to Oakwood school or Thomas Aquinas Catholic school in Chorlton, or to Parrs Wood High school, or Barlow Catholic school in Didsbury. The local primary schools are Cavendish (Cavendish Road, West Didsbury); St Ambrose (Princess Road) and Barlow Hall on Darley Avenue in Chorlton.

Housing in West Didsbury
The wider Chorlton and West Didsbury areas have a healthy mix of
housing - with plenty of owner-occupied homes, private renting and
public
housing. The 200 Southway Housing Trust homes in West Didsbury are mostly two- or three-bedroom
houses with a few flats in small blocks - mostly built in the 1930s.
It's a very popular area with a big demand for homes.
