Moston is less than three miles north of the city centre. Most homes are between Moston Lane and Boggart Hole Clough, about half a mile east of Rochdale Road - a major route from the Manchester to the north and the M60 motorway. See detailed map
Living in Moston
All Moston homes are within walking distance of the new North City Centre complex. As well as a variety of smaller shops and indoor market, there's a large Asda store and a unique covered outdoor market. There's a post office and medical centre too. Not only is it place to come for a whole range of shops, but it has special Sure Start facilities for families with young children. There’s a new leisure and fitness centre, with a modern swimming pool, fitness suite and dance studio too. A new police station is helping build a safe and secure atmosphere. The vibrant new centre has attracted investment to the area, and created lots of jobs for local people.
There are more local shops and a library on Moston Lane. There are very frequent buses along Rochdale Road from Manchester to Middleton and Rochdale. The vibrant city centre, with its shops, entertainment and leisure facilities is just a few minutes journey. Local buses run along Moston Lane too.
It's less than a mile to the new Central Manchester Business park (off Monsall Road) - an exciting venture that’s boosting the local economy and offering new jobs and training opportunities. All Moston homes are very close to Boggart Hole Clough. It's one of Manchester's largest parks, with bowls, fishing, boating, football pitches, playground, running track, multicourts and woodland walks.
Learning in Moston
The local primary schools are Moston Lane community school, and Holy Trinity CofE school on Capstan Street. Older children either go to North Manchester High school for boys on Charlestown Road, in neighbouring Charlestown, or Manchester Community school for girls on Brookside Road in Moston itself.

The new city learning centre at St Matthews school is a fantastic resource for local people - it boasts the very latest technology and is equipped with 120 state-of -the art computers. Housing in Moston
This is an area with a real mix of housing - owner-occupied, council, private renting and housing association. There are homes built in the last few years, and some built a century or more ago. There are just 120 council homes here - all managed by Northwards Housing. Nearly 80 of them are flats in small blocks. Northwards Housing has a £130 million improvement plan that will bring all homes, and local environments, up to decent modern standards by 2010. Every Northwards home will benefit from some of this work by 2008.
