Community connection: extra housing priority
Manchester landlords have clear rules to decide who gets homes. These
rules recognise the value of people who help keep their neighbourhood stable
and healthy.
You may get extra priority for a home if you have a ‘community connection’ to an area you want to live in.
What to do next depends on whether or not you are registered for rehousing with a Manchester Housing landlord. If you not sure, find out if you are registered.
- If you are NOT registered for rehousing you will be asked about a community connection when you fill in the form: start your registration here.
- If you ARE registered for rehousing you were probably asked on the application whether you had a community connection. If you said ‘Yes’ – and the landlord agreed - there’s no need to do anything. You already have the extra priority.
BUT . . .
What if things have changed since you registered? Perhaps you said ‘No’ to the community connection question, but your new circumstances mean you may now have a connection? Or perhaps you filled in a form some time ago when the community connection question didn’t exist?
You may now qualify, and so get more chance of a home.
If this could be you, apply for community connection online.
