Area guide: Sharston
Sharston is about eight miles south of the city
centre. It is east of the M56, north of Hollyhedge Road.
Living in Sharston
There are local shops close by on Hollyhedge Road and
Brownley Road. Wythenshawe health centre is on Brownley Road
too. It's within a mile of the shops and facilities in Gatley
village, and a mile and a half from Wythenshawe civic shopping
centre, with its food hall and market.
The centre also includes the Wythenshawe Forum, a modern,
accessible building at the heart of community life; the place to
come for leisure, learning and childcare. It includes a swimming
pool, gym, sports hall and fitness centre, health centre,
children's nursery and job centre.
There are regular buses to the city centre, and frequent
trains to Manchester from nearby Gatley station. There are job
opportunities at the local Sharston industrial area, and the
expanding Manchester airport (about three miles).
Sharston is next to Hollyhedge park where there are football
pitches, a bowling club, nature area and children's play park.
